This may sound like a generalization; however, everyone is attractive. To someone. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Walking with a friend today, a story about her travels and clubs came into play. Her experience was quite typical. She walked into the club and got noticed by several males. That's typical behavior especially in the club scene. People tend to be checking out other people especially if they aren't part of the regular crowd. Anyway, getting back on point, attraction. It seems relative yet very universal. Each person has this list, this concept, of attractiveness. What may be attractive to me isn't something you find attractive. However, you do find x, y, and z attractive. As they say in Grey's Anatomy, "X is someone's McDreamy."

Here are some very interesting facts about Warren Buffet, the second-richest man, who has donated $31 billion to charity.

He bought his first stock share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!

He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.

He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence surrounding it.

He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.

He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.

Buffett's company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEO's of these companies, giving them goals for the year! He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.

He has given his CEO's only two rules:

Rule number 1: Do not lose any of your shareholder's money.

Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.

He does not socialize with the high-society crowd. His pastime, after he gets home is to make himself some popcorn and watch television.

Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet, so he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour, but when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours, and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.

Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, and he doesn't have a computer on his desk.

His advice to young people: Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and remember:

A. Money doesn't create man but it is the man who created money.

B. Live your life as simple as you are.

C. Don't do what others say, just listen to them, but do what you feel is good.

D. Don't go on brand names; just wear those things in which you feel comfortable.

E. Don't waste your money on unnecessary things; rather, spend on those people who are really in need.

F. After all it's your life, then why give chance to others to rule your life?

G. The best investment you can ever make, is to invest in the Kingdom of God.

patterns

At church, I'm participating in this "Turning Point" class for the book Boundaries by Cloud & Townsend. It seems really interesting. Monday was the introduction, some basic ground rules, and getting to know a bit about the people around the table. The group of ladies is a mix of ages, walks of life and faith, personalities and temperaments. I may end up enjoying this more than I initially thought.

Patterns. Cycles. They are formed by our habits. They can be constructive or destructive. The question- how can we change them?

Miss California

Carrie Prejean is someone I admire for her strength to stand by her conviction. Even if I don't agree with her stance on the issue of gay marriage, I believe each of us should have that type of courage to answer others according to our personal belief systems.

patience

Sometimes, well a majority of the time, I wonder: how come God is so patient with me? I mean, really, I have the attention span as long as my Shih Tzu sometimes. I get distracted by so many things, some good and some not so healthy. A good analogy would be cross country running. I don't do cross country because I'd get distracted along the way.

I want to become more like Paul. In Romans he writes, "I am forgetting what is behind and straining toward the goal." I think it's Romans, someone correct me if I'm wrong.... I want to be that focused and most times, I am and can be. Other times, and I want these to become less, I am a wandering tumbleweed. Father, give me direction. Show me what focus looks like and cause me to model after it.

freedom

I asked my facebook friends to define the word "Freedom". Most of the responses received had either a religious back story or were silly answers.

Sitting contently by a stream, just me, my journal, and Jesus. Maybe a camara. Or, spinning circles on a vaulted stage floor, with an empty auditorium. The ability to just BE.

Surrendering to death...the ultimate oppressor...allowing it to consume you, dragging you to the one place you could never go, and being redeemed..........then walking in that reality every single day.

Freedom = Walking naked into a restaurant and telling the waitress, "I'd like to try the special." This of course prompts her to ask the more obvious question, "Table or booth?"

Does freedom only come through spiritual belief or religious faith?
